Impending motherhood serves up a confusing cocktail of heroic strength and terrifying vulnerability. Our culture has seized on the “vulnerability” part of this experience and tends to reinforce a pregnant woman’s insecurities instead of encouraging her to embrace this most natural time and trust her body, her intuition, and her own mind. Feng Shui Mommy takes a different approach, helping the expecting mother build her own unique, epic journey to motherhood. It’s about supporting her while she shores up her mind-body-spirit alignment so she can best handle the cosmic kick in the uterus and juicy kiss on the soul that pregnancy is. Bailey Gaddis guides women through the experience, providing specific suggestions for mind, body, and spirit for each trimester (including the “fourth,” after birth), leading to birth preparation designed for each mother and baby, and culminating in strong mother-child bonding. She includes detailed and practical information about prenatal exercise and nutrition, birth preferences and birthing positions, breath work, breastfeeding, and much more. Her advice allows mothers to welcome delight and curiosity into the journey while taking each phase with purpose and calm — and even a sense of fun. This comprehensive guide makes challenge and change joyful, allowing new life to be as incomparably wonder-filled as it is meant to be.

Filled with wisdom for a happy, healthy pregnancy!
I bought this book for my sister (a doula and essential oil advocate) and she is very pleased!!!
A wonderful, honest, tender book for expectant and new mothers. Highly recommended!
The best book I read in prep for birth! Absolutely perfect.
Humor and Wisdom

I wasn’t entirely sure about this book. I’m not really into Feng Shui or Eastern mysticism. I honestly had the expectation that this book would be about decluttering your house and living in minimalism with children. But what I found is that this book is more about decluttering your mind and less about what is under your bed. (Though it does touch on that a bit, too.)
Funny, helpful, and non-judgmental….finally, a pregnancy and early motherhood book I want to read

I bought this book for an expectant friend of mine, because I had had such a great experience with Bailey Gaddis’ breathing exercises, visualizations, and general prenatal prep during my pregnancy last year. Bailey’s approach to pregnancy coaching and labor/delivery prep is perfect for the Type A-list maker-over worrier-details obsessed-pregnant woman I was. The book is broken up into sections by trimester, which gives you easy, measurable little to-dos and goals for each phase of pregnancy. Despite the conveyed Earth Mama-ness of the title, the book is geared toward woman of all birthing persuasions; it is truly non-judgmental and open-minded (a genuine rarity in the pregnancy literature world). All-in-all, this is the book I wish I had had when I was pregnant and googling. In fact, I went ahead and picked up a physical copy at a local bookstore to add to my collection for my next journey through pregnancy. It is that good.
For the Yoga Mama!

I really enjoy pregnancy books that are down to earth and honest! Gaddis obviously poured herself into this book and has a sincere desire to help woman achieve a blissful pregnancy. She covers all the bases and even adds more through her holistic approach. While it is not full of pictures and diagrams (some woman want this) it does provide some illustrations when needed. It is full of “Fun Facts” “Tips”, and “Riddles” with internet links. Personally, I wanted to like this book more, but although I come from a very natural standpoints- I am not a Yoga type person. My personal meditation is through prayer and seeking God. BUT if you are into a holistic approach and are schooled in Yoga meditation and its practices, this book is for you! I am a doula and I am always reading new books to read and recommend to clients. I am happy to add it to my lending library!
Loved it!! Speaks to you, eases your fears and is very informative!

Oh where do I begin! Reading this book was the best thing I could have done now that I’m in my 3rd trimester and only a few days away from birthing my son! I’m so glad I found it. It’s different and special definitely nothing like other birh and labor books you have read before, it truly speaks to you in a way the makes those fears you may have about childbirth dissipate and empowers you!! May I say also the author writes beautifully, you know when your reading and you feel like you’re actually listening to that person kind of like you could imagine how their tone of voice sounds like as you read, well that’s how you feel when you read this book and I love love that makes reading it even that much more enjoyable!
Breath of fresh air!!
This book is a breath of fresh air, validating womens’ physical and emotional experiences throughout the exciting and overwhelming stages of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. With a strong focus on mindfulness, Gaddis sets the tone at the beginning of each chapter with a guided breathing exercise. Each of the exercises reminds the reader to be present in that very moment, which is also great practice for focused breathing during labor! 😉
A Must for All Baby Showers

Bailey Gaddis has written a book for expectant moms that breaks through all the old, tired stereotypes of what a healthy birthing experience is. (Hint: it’s exactly the birth experience you have!). With warmth, wit, and an astounding amount of experience, Gaddis is the new champion of moms (and dads) to be. She honors pregnancy and the run-up to birth as the transformative, enriching experience that it is. This should be on the nightstand of all moms-to-be.
