A lovely and useful collection
In the last couple of weeks I got the chance to check and use some of the lovely recipes in this book, and I was very pleased. I tried the slow cooked Turky Breast with Rosemary and the Home made Mayonnaise. I am no expert, but the directions and the ingredients made me feel like I know what I do. The Turky dinner turned to be nice and successful. I enjoyed making it and everyone around the table were complimenting. We don’t have any “health” issues, but it was very comforting to know that I did my part in making the dinner healthy.
Healthy and SATISFYING meals
From classics like swiss steak and braised beef pot roast to several variations of lasanga (I can’t wait to try the zucchini recipe) to some truly unique dishes such as squash casserole (using zucchini and yellow squash) to the bonus recipes that show you how to make your own homemade yogurt and natural mushroom soup alternative instead of relying on the canned version, Vickie Sunnel has created a practical yet unique cookbook. The author boosts up the nutritional value by using natural ingredients and healthy replacements such as olive oil and almond flour in her recipes, yet she doesn’t hit you over the head by telling you all about things you have to give up. She just gives you wonderful recipes for all occasions that also happen to be healthy. I am going to really make use of this cookbook–unlike so many of the others I have!
Great Collection of Recipes
Healthy Recipe Collection will definitely be one of my new go to recipe books. Not only are there several classics that I love such as Swiss Steak, Chicken Divan and Squash Casserole ( I grew up in the south) there are also unique recipes such as Lasagne Soup and Celeriac Lasagne. If you ever thought about making your home-made yogurt or ricotta cheese this is the book for you. It is nice to have so many cooking techniques and recipes together in one book. I am now inspired to pull out my crock pot and dutch oven and start cooking.
Some new & different recipes!
Wow! I saw lots of new recipes that I can’t wait to try. Since I live in the South, the vegetable stands are brimming with fresh vegetables this time of year. I was particularly interested in the slow cooker and dutch oven recipes since the temperatures are starting to climb. It’s nice to use the slow cooker and not heat up the kitchen, not to mention the clean up is easy. I’m glad I picked this up!
I love recipe book filled with loads of new things to make. This one had lots of great ones like casseroles , etc but I really can’t wait to try some of the slow cooker recipes. Those are my favorites – nothing like coming home after a long day to the aroma from a well stocked crock pot. Mmmmm, I’m hungry already.
Really liked the slow cooker recipes
Really liked the slow cooker recipes. Family did not care for Lasagna I made from ingredients from book. I must of left something out of it.
Healthy Recipes: Slow Cooker, Dutch Oven
Not bad for the price.
It costs to much to eat healthy.
Who said that healthy meal is not tasty?
I was so excited when I purchased a slow-cooker. Now I’m excited trying recipes from this book. I like to set up the slow cooker in the morning and when I came home, I have gourmet diner ready. I would prefer to see more low-fat recipes included in this book and also nutrition information but for the most part this is the healthy meal. So far, I’ve tried the No-Bean Chili and I am going to try the Beef Daube. Great recipes! Overall, I can recommend this cookbook especially for this modest price.
