NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Thought leader, visionary, philanthropist, mystic, and yogi Sadhguru presents Western readers with a time-tested path to achieving absolute well-being: the classical science of yoga.

The practice of hatha yoga, as we commonly know it, is but one of eight branches of the body of knowledge that is yoga. In fact, yoga is a sophisticated system of self-empowerment that is capable of harnessing and activating inner energies in such a way that your body and mind function at their optimal capacity. It is a means to create inner situations exactly the way you want them, turning you into the architect of your own joy.

A yogi lives life in this expansive state, and in this transformative book Sadhguru tells the story of his own awakening, from a boy with an unusual affinity for the natural world to a young daredevil who crossed the Indian continent on his motorcycle. He relates the moment of his enlightenment on a mountaintop in southern India, where time stood still and he emerged radically changed. Today, as the founder of Isha, an organization devoted to humanitarian causes, he lights the path for millions. The term guru, he notes, means “dispeller of darkness, someone who opens the door for you. . . . As a guru, I have no doctrine to teach, no philosophy to impart, no belief to propagate. And that is because the only solution for all the ills that plague humanity is self-transformation. Self-transformation means that nothing of the old remains. It is a dimensional shift in the way you perceive and experience life.” The wisdom distilled in this accessible, profound, and engaging book offers readers time-tested tools that are fresh, alive, and radiantly new. Inner Engineering presents a revolutionary way of thinking about our agency and our humanity and the opportunity to achieve nothing less than a life of joy.

Praise for Sadhguru and Inner Engineering

“Contrarian and consistent, ancient and contemporary, Inner Engineering is a loving invitation to live our best lives and a profound reassurance of why and how we can.”—Sir Ken Robinson, author of The Element, Finding Your Element, and Out of Our Minds: Learning to Be Creative

“I am inspired by Sadhguru’s capacity for joy, his exuberance for life, and the depth and breadth of his curiosity and knowledge. His book is filled with moments of wonder, awe, and intellectual challenge. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in self-transformation.”—Mark Hyman, M.D., director, Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, and New York Times bestselling author

“Inner Engineering is a fascinating read of Sadhguru’s insights and his teachings. If you are ready, it is a tool to help awaken your own inner intelligence, the ultimate and supreme genius that mirrors the wisdom of the cosmos.”—Deepak Chopra

Yesterday I cut two oranges to juice for my morning smoothie. As I was juicing one of them, I heard myself say, “This orange is BAD. It’s so dry.”

Well conceived, fluidly written and easy to read, with a few elements which stretch belief

Although I’ve ready many books throughout my life this is the first book I’m writing a review for. Thought provoking and inspirational, this book resonates with me like no other. I’ve read many books by authors such as Eckharte Tolle, Osho, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Ramana Maharishi, etc however none of them put it as simply as Sadhguru does in this book. Every time I’m going through a tough phase or I’m feeling down I pick up this book and start reading it. Every passage, every sentence, every word has been crafted carefully – just reading the book is a great joy! Sadhguru is an unbelievable man, his perception of life and what it means to be human is incredible. He is a buddha of modern times and truly a dispeller of darkness (The word guru means dispeller of darkness). I’ve taken most of his meditation and yoga courses and I can assure you they are truly transformative. If only they taught this to every child in school, we would be living in a totally different world.

If you have dealt with depression or anxiety – start reading this book NOW!

I am not an active reader. But read through 60 pages on the first night itself. It’s hard to keep this book down. Am right now less than half way through the book. The perfect book for anyone who needs help getting over depression and anxiety or simply wants to lead a peaceful life. It’s a book by a yogi and has no references on Hinduism. It’s simply a guidebook on how to live life following the basic laws of nature and the universe. That’s what I loved about this book, it is keeps mythologies and religion far away! Shall update the review if required when I have read it completely.

This is a great book for people wanting to make meaningful changes by doing simple activities everyday. Sadhguru explains in plain language why we are making life more complicated than it actually is and gives concrete steps (Sadhanas) to improve the way we live.

This is one life changing concept. The book makes us sees things that were plainly in front of us, too subtle and transparent for us to notice. This breaks the wall created by simple mind blocks and how enslaved we are to artificial cultures, in the name of freedom, that we forget the basics of our own well-being.

Great Book!

After watching about 60 hours of Sadhguru I bought two, one for me and one for my father. Both of us liked the book. However if your like me entirely new and exploring buddhism I would recommend this as your 2nd or 3rd book. I would say this is a medium experience range book so I couldn’t quite follow or understand fully what he was trying to communicate but as I read more entry level books now I have a clearer picture of what he was conveying. I recommend this book even doing it backwards and starting with something a bit advanced as a introduction with this book it certainly had value up to 65% in, from there it became a bit harder to follow for me due to lack of experience and understanding.

This is a book you will want to keep with you (I have it on Kindle so that is possible). I will read and reread because the advice is PERFECT and I will need reminders as I go along in my journey. So so much good stuff in here and he is very humorous so it makes it a joy to read. Yes, you must buy it. I missed having a hard copy, I do love to hold a book in my hand, I’m getting used to having things on kindle gradually and we always have our phones, so that means we always have access to our books too.

Sadhguru, a renowned Spirtual Leader, known for his Yoga and meditation sessions has distilled key elements of his signature program Inner Engineering into this book .A must read for anyone who wants to take control of his life and become more joyful.

There are some things that you intuitively know are right, this book is one of them. It reads like a conversation you are having with someone you have the utmost respect for. Can’t wait to keep reading but then again I don’t want it to end.🙏
