NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Thought leader, visionary, philanthropist, mystic, and yogi Sadhguru presents Western readers with a time-tested path to achieving absolute well-being: the classical science of yoga.

The practice of hatha yoga, as we commonly know it, is but one of eight branches of the body of knowledge that is yoga. In fact, yoga is a sophisticated system of self-empowerment that is capable of harnessing and activating inner energies in such a way that your body and mind function at their optimal capacity. It is a means to create inner situations exactly the way you want them, turning you into the architect of your own joy.

A yogi lives life in this expansive state, and in this transformative book Sadhguru tells the story of his own awakening, from a boy with an unusual affinity for the natural world to a young daredevil who crossed the Indian continent on his motorcycle. He relates the moment of his enlightenment on a mountaintop in southern India, where time stood still and he emerged radically changed. Today, as the founder of Isha, an organization devoted to humanitarian causes, he lights the path for millions. The term guru, he notes, means “dispeller of darkness, someone who opens the door for you. . . . As a guru, I have no doctrine to teach, no philosophy to impart, no belief to propagate. And that is because the only solution for all the ills that plague humanity is self-transformation. Self-transformation means that nothing of the old remains. It is a dimensional shift in the way you perceive and experience life.” The wisdom distilled in this accessible, profound, and engaging book offers readers time-tested tools that are fresh, alive, and radiantly new. Inner Engineering presents a revolutionary way of thinking about our agency and our humanity and the opportunity to achieve nothing less than a life of joy.

Praise for Sadhguru and Inner Engineering

“Contrarian and consistent, ancient and contemporary, Inner Engineering is a loving invitation to live our best lives and a profound reassurance of why and how we can.”—Sir Ken Robinson, author of The Element, Finding Your Element, and Out of Our Minds: Learning to Be Creative

“I am inspired by Sadhguru’s capacity for joy, his exuberance for life, and the depth and breadth of his curiosity and knowledge. His book is filled with moments of wonder, awe, and intellectual challenge. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in self-transformation.”—Mark Hyman, M.D., director, Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, and New York Times bestselling author

“Inner Engineering is a fascinating read of Sadhguru’s insights and his teachings. If you are ready, it is a tool to help awaken your own inner intelligence, the ultimate and supreme genius that mirrors the wisdom of the cosmos.”—Deepak Chopra

Yesterday I cut two oranges to juice for my morning smoothie. As I was juicing one of them, I heard myself say, “This orange is BAD. It’s so dry.”

Well conceived, fluidly written and easy to read, with a few elements which stretch belief

Although I’ve ready many books throughout my life this is the first book I’m writing a review for. Thought provoking and inspirational, this book resonates with me like no other. I’ve read many books by authors such as Eckharte Tolle, Osho, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Ramana Maharishi, etc however none of them put it as simply as Sadhguru does in this book. Every time I’m going through a tough phase or I’m feeling down I pick up this book and start reading it. Every passage, every sentence, every word has been crafted carefully – just reading the book is a great joy! Sadhguru is an unbelievable man, his perception of life and what it means to be human is incredible. He is a buddha of modern times and truly a dispeller of darkness (The word guru means dispeller of darkness). I’ve taken most of his meditation and yoga courses and I can assure you they are truly transformative. If only they taught this to every child in school, we would be living in a totally different world.

This is a book you will want to keep with you (I have it on Kindle so that is possible). I will read and reread because the advice is PERFECT and I will need reminders as I go along in my journey. So so much good stuff in here and he is very humorous so it makes it a joy to read. Yes, you must buy it. I missed having a hard copy, I do love to hold a book in my hand, I’m getting used to having things on kindle gradually and we always have our phones, so that means we always have access to our books too.

This book is for all the people in search of a practical guide for self improvement and clear understanding of life, body and soul. Sadhguru has a very simple way to explain the complexity of how “the man works”…Anyway I really recommend this book, it is a guide, a sort of “instruction manual” of life.

This book came into my life just as I was studying to become a yoga instructor. Do not read it if your intention is to learn about yoga. But read it anyway! It parallels many of the basic philosophies we study in the school but more importantly it’s an excellent introduction to the REAL yoga, finding the union between mind and body, especially focusing on the mind. There is so much great spirituality addressed in the book that is relevant for everyone, everywhere. This author is funny and writes for a western audience so it’s easy and fun to read. Highly recommended.

There are many useful information, especially if you are new to yoga

Cracking the code to life

I’ve always wondered if there was source code to life that I can modify and achieve the results I want. This book is the first I came across that takes a more first principles approach to life issues. It’s method of exposition is scientific and lucid yet not dry, although some things may seem incredulous at first. The methods taught here are emprical and experiential, meaning that you would have to practice it (like performing an experiment in a lab) to actually make sure if what’s taught really works. I can say for myself that it certainly works extremely well! There may be times when I fall off the wagon, but I keep this book to get me back on track. Because life happens every moment, so you need to engineer it the right way constantly.

Love Sadhguru, helps my soul. Everyone should read this. Spirituality isn’t about religion it’s about helping your soul become better then in turn the world becomes better, but we must look inward first.
