Thought I’d Receive a CD with the Book-I didn’t

Not what I wanted. I wanted the book PLUS the guided meditation CD. No guided meditation was included. I really like Jack Kornfield and felt cheated that I didn’t get the CD which was really why I ordered tje book in the first place. Still Jack Kornfield is very important int the mindfulness / Buddhist arena so I am not totally disappointed. Though I have other books that are probably just as good. Again I wanted the CD which comes with the Hardbound book.

As a teacher of Buddhism and meditation, I have been using this film in my classes on An Introduction to Buddhism for years, even when it was available only on a video cassette. It is the best introduction to meditation that is available and Jack Kornfield is the best teacher you could hope to have teaching this important tool for gaining enlightenment and getting rid of one’s suffering. If you want to learn how to meditate and why it’s good for you, get this DVD. You’ll be both happy to did, and if you practice Kornfield’s methods, you’ll benefit tremendously.

I have been meditating my whole life & my husband always wanted to know how I did it. How I stayed so calm with everything. I bought this book for my husband & he’s a changed man. Ive never seen him so calm & relaxed. He doesn’t stress anymore. We all meditate in our own way but this book is GREAT for showing you how to start the process. I couldn’t be happier with the end result it has given my husband. Thank you Jack Kornfield.

The 2nd CD, though its title suggests a narrow focus on Buddhism, gives valuable perspective and shouldn’t be omitted. Where the 1st CD addresses “how,” the 2nd points to “why.” This set, of all the many meditation titles, was recommended to me by a therapist.

For the beginning meditatior this is an excellent text. Clear,concise and, an easy read. This book offers the essential details to begin your own practice. Jack Kornfield provides the right amount of detail in his explanation of vipassana meditation to guide you on the journey of living in the present. The accompanying CD nicely corresponds to the chapters so you can begin to practice even before you finish the book. I frequently recommend this text to those interested in beginning a practice. If you are looking for a book that goes into greater detail about meditation this is not for you.
