Enrolling in a yoga class is so expensive that I decided to try doing some meditation exercises at home. However, proper meditation cannot be achieved without the help of a guide. So I got this book. It taught me the right visualization techniques, as well as practicing breath meditation. It also has some tips on organizing an at-home retreat, which is something I totally need to do when I take a personal day at work. I am eager to achieve the level of complete relaxation.

A lot has been said about Meditation, particularly by the previous books I’ve read. But this book has still made a lot of things clearer for me. And despite our crazy world now, it is still a must that we find peace and we are stress-free so that we will be able to enjoy life and face its trials too. And what is so nice about this book is that it is newbie friendly. It can serve as a great beginners’ guide. It did not present info in a round-about way, but everything has been direct to the point. One of the things I really appreciate in this book is its discussions about Basic Breath Meditation and Walking Breath Meditation. This is a profound and helpful book.

A fantastic book on meditation. Anderson does a clear and thorough job of explaining the benefits of meditation, and walking a new practitioner through it. I thought it would be a lot more difficult to do, but by following her instructions exactly, using the postures and mental images she provides, I am starting to realize the benefits, from more restful sleep to a more energetic day. The book is really well written, it is like a calming voice in my head.

Becoming mindful on what we eat and do makes us appreciate the world and our life more.

I’m no longer a beginner on meditation. I’ve been practicing meditation, visualization and even yoga. Early morning I do my life SAVERS. S for silence where I meditate. A for affirmation. V for visualization. E for exercise. R for reading and S for scribing. I’ve been doing it for almost 2 years now. Doing so, especially meditation gives me so much calmness and a peace of mind. I love how I feel every time I practice these things.

“Meditation For Beginners” is great for people just starting out with meditation and are feeling a bit “uneasy” about sitting in silence for long periods of time. The book delivers on what it promises, and it is directed at people who need help getting into the “meditation groove” so they can reap the real benefits of this life-changing activity. As the author points it out, concentration is the key element in getting good at this. I like the advice given on how meditation cuts out the nonessential stuff and gets you focused on what is essential.

Make your days better- buy this book.

For me, this is an easy book to read for its concepts and philosophies, but a tough instruction book to follow for various meditation methods through breathing. We suppose to live in the now and here, not in the past or future. Only in this way, we are living our live, not departing somewhere else. We do so by being mindful like a guard who is aware of everything passes through the front corridor. You recognize when it comes in and exits.

There’s nothing more helpful than this book when getting started with meditation. This is exactly what I was looking for. I got a lot of useful and effective strategies to become fully aware of what I feel. Great benefits! I would definitely suggest this to my friends who are also starting to practice meditation like me.

This book was decent for beginners info on meditation. I found 3 typos early making the material seem amateurish (at locations 220, 410, and 581). At exactly the 50% mark, the remainder of the entire book seems to go off on a lengthy tangent best described as a positive thinking self help book beginning with the chapter “What is Happiness”. I’m not sure that I even saw the word “meditation” used from this point on. Admittedly I did little more than scan the material in the latter half of the book searching for something resembling meditation related material. While I’m sure the second half of the book has some relevance to the first, it trails way off the topic of the act of meditating,

Reading meditation books are one of my interests. From all meditation books that I read, I found this book very informative and interesting. It covers all the things you need to know about meditation from basic breath meditation to sitting, lying down and walking breath meditation. In it, I’ve learned that the goal of meditation is to focus and quiet your mind, eventually reaching a higher level of awareness and inner calm. Highly appreciated and recommended!
