Still made following the hot soap making process, it is left to mature for 10 days in small production batches. After this period, the soap is more concentrated and ready to be poured into the bowl.

Excellent shaving soap for new and experienced DE shavers.

I started DE shaving with the Proraso Green Tub soap and I can’t see myself changing to a different product for the time being. This soap lathers into a rich creamy lather that provides easy gliding for your razor blade and a light refreshing feeling on your skin. The feeling even gets better after you wash it off as it leaves the skin smooth and soft unlike those “foam in a can” products I was using before.
Blown away with the thick creamy lather this soap makes

AMAZING FOAM from this soft soap. I first soak my Semogue 830 in warm water for about 1 minute. Then I load up the soap onto my brush by swirling it 15-30 times on the soap. Then I take the brush to a separate lathering bowl where I add a few finger drops of water and then whip it into a nice thick creamy lather. My skin feels soft and conditioned afterwards, with no razor burn. The scent is very mellow and doesn’t linger, so it won’t interfere with your aftershave.
Great Soap for a Beginner

As I move into this new frontier known as DE shaving I’m glad to have found this soap. The Proraso shaving soap arrived quickly and I couldn’t wait to try it out. I was able to work up a nice lather without much work (or knowledge). The smell was great, not over bearing and very enjoyable. As my first soap I don’t think I could have made a better choice, but then again I’m a it is my only soap so what do I know? If you’re starting out and you want an easy to use, fresh smelling, make your face feel good shaving soap look no further than this one.
This stuff feels great and smells even better

Been using this setup for about a week now. This stuff feels great and smells even better. I’m a noob to DE shaving and bought this based on the many good reviews. I don’t see any reason to switch brands. Completely satisfied. Goodbye cartridge razors. Forever!
Not for everyone, and certainly not the best

I do believe that this, and Proraso products in general, are quality products. Unfortunately, things can get very subjective when it comes to shaving products. As much as I’ve enjoyed getting into DE shaving, it’s not my goal to become a shaving snob. I’m the type of guy who likes to find the product that works for me, and stick to my guns. After a couple of months shaving with a cheap Vanderhagen puck that dried out my face, I figured it was time to find my “go-to” shaving soap, and that Proraso was the perfect place to start.
Proraso shaving soap in a bowl – Excellent Product
Proraso refreshing and toning is an excellent product line. The fragrance is not overpowering, but rather fresh and invigorating. I usually wear a more expensive fragrance – Armani, so this is a nice change for me. My girlfriend is from Europe and she remarked that she really liked the smell of “Proraso Refreshing & Toning” and that it reminded her of the kinds of nicer fragrances that mature, sophisticated gentlemen wear back home. Combined with this Proraso PRE-shave (very important!), Proraso shave soap applied with a badger hair shaving brush after a nice hot shower….. the Proraso aftershave does an excellent job at soothing the skin, leaving you with a very fresh feeling. I think that because the aftershave formula contains witch hazel, it performs very well in calming the skin after a nice wet shave. I prefer the Proraso “green” shaving products, because they contain menthol and eucalyptus oil… smells great and also creates a slight tingly feeling on the skin. I wish that I would have discovered this sooner. Excellent products by Proraso.

I’ve been shaving with all sorts of creams and gels for over 30 years. And, for over 30 years, I’ve hated it. I just didn’t like shaving and then I found this wonderful shaving soap. It’s outstanding. The highest praise I can give it is that I now actually look forward to shaving!
Excellent product in excellent packaging

This shave soap has its own lid and bowl, so there is no need to have a separate bowl. The lid is very good and it makes it so that the soap can be kept in the shower. No water collects in the soap. This soap has beard softeners in it, which are quite effective. The other ingredients give your face a conditioned and moisturized feel. This soap is WAY better than any foam out of a can. Cans rust out or fail and start shooting out foam everywhere. I have been using this soap for a couple months now, and it is better in shave quality and value than any other shave soap or foam I have previously tried. I can’t stress enough the value in the packaging as well as the beard softeners. The beard softeners have made a substantial difference in the shave quality and ease.
Works ok, don’t like the smell or gunk left on blade. There are better and cheaper alternatives.
I see it has many good remand fans but I’m not one of them. Personally I don’t care for the smell at all, unpleasant to me. Secondly I found it difficult to rinse off my razor and there was a build up of gunk on the blade when I changed it. I rinse my razor in the sink full of water, not under he running faucet. The shave performance is ok but nothing spectacular for me. I actually far prefer the cheaper US made Van der Hagen hard soap you can get at your local grocery store, for the smell and performance. I suspect this Proraso is an inexpensive and easily available shave soap in Italy, and not some high end brand.
This is a great product.
