Still made following the hot soap making process, it is left to mature for 10 days in small production batches. After this period, the soap is more concentrated and ready to be poured into the bowl.

Just received my Proraso shaving soap the other day and after my first shave with it i’m impressed.
Will never go back!

Proraso Shaving Soap has turned my daily shaving chore into something I actually enjoy. The eucalyptus scent is pleasant and not at all overpowering, my Wife loves the way it smells. I’ve been using the soap for over 6 months now and still am nowhere near the bottom of the jar. Puts the normal foam in a can to shame!
Good lathering shave soap

The product comes in the hard plastic bowl shaped container as pictured. The lid just kind of snaps onto the container and is easy enough to open and close. When you open the container the minty menthol smell is very prominent. The shave soap has a firm texture.
This stuff feels great and smells even better

Been using this setup for about a week now. This stuff feels great and smells even better. I’m a noob to DE shaving and bought this based on the many good reviews. I don’t see any reason to switch brands. Completely satisfied. Goodbye cartridge razors. Forever!
Worth it. All you can say, it’s worth the price.
Simply the best that I have found (and I have tried 4 others, including WalMart’s). As much as I hate to admit it (me being a senior and on fixed income and all), it just is worth the few extra dollars for the quality of the facial lubrication and shave it offers. In fact, given how well this lathers with 3 flicks of a badger’s brush, priced out per shave it may not cost more at all. Proraso does have that menthol scent that you have to like, or get used to, or both, but it is very tolerable and it does not seem to bother folks with perfume sensitivities. (We square dance, and you just can’t have heavy scents in a room of sweaty old people on a southern night without somebody getting “the vapors”). So if you can use the less expensive stuff, congratulations. Otherwise, you can count on this Proraso.
Excellent product in excellent packaging

This shave soap has its own lid and bowl, so there is no need to have a separate bowl. The lid is very good and it makes it so that the soap can be kept in the shower. No water collects in the soap. This soap has beard softeners in it, which are quite effective. The other ingredients give your face a conditioned and moisturized feel. This soap is WAY better than any foam out of a can. Cans rust out or fail and start shooting out foam everywhere. I have been using this soap for a couple months now, and it is better in shave quality and value than any other shave soap or foam I have previously tried. I can’t stress enough the value in the packaging as well as the beard softeners. The beard softeners have made a substantial difference in the shave quality and ease.
Proraso shaving soap in a bowl – Excellent Product
Proraso refreshing and toning is an excellent product line. The fragrance is not overpowering, but rather fresh and invigorating. I usually wear a more expensive fragrance – Armani, so this is a nice change for me. My girlfriend is from Europe and she remarked that she really liked the smell of “Proraso Refreshing & Toning” and that it reminded her of the kinds of nicer fragrances that mature, sophisticated gentlemen wear back home. Combined with this Proraso PRE-shave (very important!), Proraso shave soap applied with a badger hair shaving brush after a nice hot shower….. the Proraso aftershave does an excellent job at soothing the skin, leaving you with a very fresh feeling. I think that because the aftershave formula contains witch hazel, it performs very well in calming the skin after a nice wet shave. I prefer the Proraso “green” shaving products, because they contain menthol and eucalyptus oil… smells great and also creates a slight tingly feeling on the skin. I wish that I would have discovered this sooner. Excellent products by Proraso.
My bar for all other soaps
I have been DE shaving for over a year now and tried them all. This soap is simple in compound but delivers. Cold sensation competes with pain neurologically (hence biofreeze and pain relief) and the cooling feeling from the menthol makes the shave extremely comfortable. The Eucalyptus oil gives this soap just the right amount of grab on the hairs to make for the most consistent smoothest shaves I get. Yeah it doesn’t have the shea, and the clay, and the lanolin or tallow and the etherial or funny name blah blah blah but you know what? I get a baby smooth shave with this every time. Sometimes less is more. I don’t need the pre-shave cream but it does add to the comfort and the skin noticeably improves with the pre-shave cream. It takes away from the smoothness of the shave though. I am pairing this with the merkur futur on setting 2.25 and achieve perfect shaves every time. Italian barbers apparently have been using this exclusively for years and I can see why. The scent is a classic barber smell that doesn’t last too long but I only get compliments from those females close enough to my face to smell it. I am 37 years old.
adventure with artisan soaps and creams
I’ve used this soap for three years straight before 2010. It was reasonably priced, but in today’s world of shaving soaps, there are better options. There are many artisan shaving soaps and creams that are available to purchase online. I’d suggest to try some of those retailers out. The soap in a bowl is an interesting concept, and I bought this soap purely on price and reviews. During the last month or so, I’ve been sampling different soaps from artisan soap makers, and can tell you there is a huge difference once you step up to the next level. Overall, this soap in a bowl is just average, but when I didn’t know any better, it seemed like this was the way to go.
