My favorite lip treat

 on May 31, 2017
By Oregonians
I’ve been using Rosebud Salve for over 13 years. Every morning after I brush my teeth I put this salve on my lips. I’ve tried other brands through the years, but I always come back to this. Recently, I tried Vaseline’s rose lip therapy; it’s awful. This salve applies beautifully and doesn’t leave my lips feeling greasy. It keeps my kisser soft and healthy. During the dryer months I’ll apply it to dry patches on my skin (head to toe). It smells nice and rosey. The scent is subtle sans overpowering drunken flower smell. Also, the tin is easy to open and it’s pretty. I always save my empty tins. I highly recommend Rosebud Salve.

Can’t open the lid!!!!!!!!

I have no complaints about the salve, it’s nice with a light scent, but the problem is I can’t get it open if I accidentally close it! My husband has tried everything to open it with all kinds of tools, and was finally able to open it, but the problem is if I close it again it is the same story over and over. I try to keep it slightly open although I’m afraid of it drying out, but every single time I close it, it can take a very long time and many tools to open it again. I don’t know where the one person who said it was easy to open got hers, she must have had a special one, because I see over and over where people are having problems opening this. I like the salve but will never buy it again because of this! Try a screw on top or something because this one is too frustrating!

Multi-tasker!

After reading several reviews suggesting uses other than as a lip balm, I bought 2 tins of Rosebud Salve. One is for my lips, & the other I can use to moisturize my cuticles, quickly tame some flyaway hairs, & apply to small dry or irritated areas on my face. Since there is a slight pink tint, I sometimes use just the salve on my lips, but I also like it under my lipstick. It’s so moisturizing that I find myself rubbing my lips together a lot!

Tin is catastrophic, product is great.

I’m only giving it three stars because the tin was created by Beelzebub himself. I refuse to wrestle with that stupid lid anymore. I decanted the product into a different smaller makeup jar and it has made me a lot less likely to ragequit when I am only trying to moisturize my lips. The product itself is great. I plan on burning the tin in a ritual.

What a Treasure!

I purchased this at Ulta, and honestly, I feel like I can’t live without it. It not only keeps my lips soft and supple, but it seems to be diminishing my crows feet? I researched the product, and after learning that I can use it most anywhere on my body, I decided to give it a try on my crows feet. I will be 43 next week, and I’ve always looked young for my age, but I do have some fine lines around my eyes. After using a bit of this daily on those fine lines, they are absolutely less noticeable. And I notice everything. This salve is fantastic. It truly is a multipurpose, product. We need to consider the fact that this was formulated in 1892, and is still being used today. When that happens, it happens for a reason. I adore discovering treasures like this. Products that have been around forever, aren’t messed with or changed in any way, stay true to their claims, and still work like a charm centuries after they’ve been created. I will never be without this salve. It’s wonderfully affordable, making that possible for me. I don’t have to scrape up $50 in order to keep this in my regimen. It’s such a simple, useful little product. Also, I will say with confidence that just one tin could easily last a year. **Sidenote! Since I’ve been using this salve on my lips, they actually appear fuller. I’m sure this has a lot to do with the moisture-locking properties, but yes! Fuller lips are definitely not a bad thing. The color is extremely subtle. Basically clear with an ever so slight, nude/pink-ish hue. Barely there. This is not a lipstick or a sticky gloss by any means. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. **For people commenting about the scent being too strong: Give it a little time, my friends. I, too, was thrown back a bit when I first opened my tin. It IS perfumey when first, opened. After a week or so, however, that scent kind of wears off. It’s still there, but not nearly as intense. The more you open the tin, and use the salve, the less pungent that scent becomes. I’m at a point where I hardly smell it anymore. So! there are my two cents. A fantastic product, that I hope to never be without.

Buy this; it’s honestly as good as everyone says.

This is the only salve/lotion/product that works on my cuticles/dry skin at all–such so that I have three tins lying around (one for work, one for purse, one for nightstand–be prepared, I say). I hate the term ~holy grail~ product, but…I’ve been using this for years and will always speak highly of it. I use it as lip balm as well and it’s great. I can wake up in the morning, look at my fingertips, and be like “wow, really, skin?” And I’ll id use this a few times throughout the day and by evening, they’re nice enough to paint my nails and not look like a sad dry-skinned failure. Frankly, it’s the most affordable “luxury product” that you can buy and actually wind up loving forever.

I’m so happy I found this product

I’m so happy I found this product ! This is the ONLY thing I have found that keeps my lips soft and not cracked . I wear a ton of lip sticks and stains so peeling lips can be quite a problem for me . This is amazing ! I also just bought one to send to my aunt . Since this is an all purpose salve once I am done applying it to my lips i wipe the excess off on the top of my hands to keep them moisturized . (I’m an esthetician and my hands are always dry from constantly being in water and products)

I have been using these for a while now, and I’m finally seeing pan on my first one. These are such great value, especially for what I would have to pay for them in stores. Works great for chapped lips, and I slather it on other parts of my face when I’ve been windburned, etc. I’ve got sensitive skin, and, weirdly enough, Rosebud Salve doesn’t bother me at all when a lot of “sensitive skin” and “natural” products make me break out or chap my lips more.

Nice Product…With Some Caveats

This is a nice product. I use it only as a lip balm. (I like a little color and moisture, but dislike lipstick.) Pros: I find that applying just a little from time to time at home results in smooth lips with the tiniest hint of pink color–very subtle. There is no taste. (i.e. it doesn’t taste like rosewater.) I have found that the smoothing effect is cumulative–the more you use it, the better it seems to work. I find that for my unusually dry, peeling, chronically chapped lips, that an application every couple of hours works well. You only need a little bit. The tin is not a problem for me to open. I hold the little ridge around the base with my fingernails, and the top just comes right off with my other hand. Using a rubber band as a “gripper” would probably work well, if necessary. Cons: I think this would be awkward to use while out and about, and could be messy if dropped or if the day was very hot–or if it were left in a hot car. I have other lip balms in tubes that I carry in my purse for more convenient “when I’m away” application.
