Sweet little book
This little book is an absolute gem. Someone had posted this book on my facebook page. The recipes are great and I’ve tried several of them. They are so easy to do. I’d always been a crock pot devotee, but I didn’t devote that much time to including ingredients that would really make a different type of meal.
I’ve only glanced through the recipes and generally they are mostly throw in the cooker and cook recipes, although there is some vegetable chopping involved, which is fine. A few recipes use canned soup or some sort of pre-mixed seasoning, like dry onion soup or taco seasoning, but some of my “regular” recipes do as well, and a few called for sauteing ingredients first. There were lots of different recipes for all kinds of barbeque sauces, which could be done stove-top, but would have to be watched, as most contain sugar, which can scorch, but I can see party food done quickly: pick your sauce, do it up in the crockpot, and add whatever–those little cocktail weenies, meatballs, chunks of smoked sausage, diced pre-cooked ham. But what was irksome was the book didn’t download to my Kindle. I had to download the app to my phone, which meant I had to get Yahoo on there (new phone, not all the apps on the old one are on it), get the link to Google, then, because until now I’ve never needed to sign in to Google, I had to re-set my password. On the other hand, I wouldn’t have had the photos on my Kindle, as it’s an old model. I actually use it to–gasp–read books!
Unorganized but legible
The formatting is wonky so it’s easy to overlook recipes, if you aren’t careful.
Like Pinterest but an Ebook
I love my slow cooker and I love this book. It give great recipes to use for your slow cooker! Slow cookers are amazing and I use mine all the time. Mostly I get ideas off of Pinterest, but this was a decent book to get even more ideas for easy meals and healthy meals. Some of them do require prior packaged foods, which I am not exactly a fan of. I did not really care for the explanation of a slow cooker, how to pick one, or what they looked like. I think we have all seen them in a store whether it be Target, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond or some other kitchen store. The thing I really like about slow cookers is the ability to prepare them and leave them so they are ready by dinnertime with little work. And they are so tender. The downfall to this was the formatting was a little off, but it may just be my device. Another thing is, while I like the recipes, and it is easy to have right there, a lot of them are very similar to ones on Pinterest.
Slow Cookers are the best invention ever
Slow Cookers are the best invention ever. I love mine, and use it constantly.Being limited in my movements, it has been a life saver. Mine is the old fashioned kind, with the thick glass lid, with no vent, and no reason to add a lot of water. It keeps all of the moisture inside, so you never eat dry meats, of any kind. The newer ones with the thin lids, with even holes in the lids you have to monitor so nothing days out or burns. Mine I put on, and go to my doctors appointments, or where ever I need to be, and come home to dinner cooked perfectly. My daughter’s she has to stay home and watch if she wants to have edible food. These recipes added to all of the others, gives me more choices to prepare.
There is nothing like a slow cooker
There is nothing like a slow cooker, all hot and savory, waiting for you when you get home from work.
Recipes are great!
I love the fact that this book presents great recipes for your mighty slow cooker but only concern is that the recipes are not easy to read, too wordy and you have to really look through to be able to follow the steps but some are arranged pretty nicely with great photos too. Maybe a little formatting will result to adding one more star in my review.
I love using my slow cooker, so I’m always looking for new recipes to try. Good book.
