No pictures. It’s a great book with a LOT of information on eating clean. I’m a pretty good home cook, but I still like to see what I’m making. This is great as an information how-to and there are actually really great recipes, even for kids and can be made in larger quantities for bigger families. I gave it 3 stars for the no pictures.

I keep hearing about clean eating and I was interested in finding out more about it. I came across this book and thought for the price it can’t hurt to check it out. I couldn’t have been more correct. This book has tons of information on clean eating. It explains what it is in detail, tells you how to get started and gives you some recipes to try.

The Clean Eating Cookbook is a concise guide on nutrition. I felt like I was taking nutrition 101. I was shocked by the information given before you even get to the recipes. You learn what carbohydrates are and their purpose. You learn why protein is essential, particularly lean proteins. They also debunks the myths surrounding fats(the good fats anyway) and the importance of them in your diet. There are no restrictions in this “diet” which encourages you to eliminate processed foods and look to eat foods in their most natural state. It’s not a new idea in particular, but the information is not common knowledge. With all the preliminary dietary information, you get a plethora of recipes, food breakdowns, and how to eat foods seasonally. I feel it’s a great find, and I’m already experiencing more energy with eating whole and healthy foods.

Honestly, I was looking for a few more recipes. The writer of this book goes in to great detail about ups and downs of sugar and binge eating, etc., but in all honesty I felt it was overkill and I was looking more for recipes which there are quite a few in the book. I mean it’s not the worst book out there and it’s certainly armed with an array of information.

Living in Las Vegas, Nevada, allows me to have many fresh produce and fruits to choose from to cook for my family. The concept is written out well written out noting the positive attributes for healthy as well as delicious meals and snacks. The benefit to your health, physical appearance, as well as the skin and immune system are written out in simple terms. Though it uses the word “diet” in the title, the book advocates a lifestyle choice, with flexibility, rather than a rigid short-term diet. After putting forward the main tenants, the book lays out a plan to start you on your way with a two-week meal plan and plenty of recipes to pique your interest and charm your taste buds. Perhaps one of the most useful features of the book are the labels associated with each recipe indicating seasonal ingredients, high protein, low fat or the inclusion of super foods, among other things. Each recipe is also given a succinct introduction with specific advantages or points of interest on the featured ingredients. While the book as a whole is a valuable addition to your collection, it is the recipe section in particular, which stands out.
