Why do we harvest the qi at the end of the qigong practice?
A farmer works in the field for the whole year and at the end of the year he harvests the crops. This is what we do in qigong practice. During qigong practice you collect a lot of qi inside and outside of your body. At the end of the practice you need to harvest this qi for specific uses in the body. When you harvest the qi, it helps you to store the energy in a specific area of the body as well as helping you to heal faster. Otherwise the qi can run away without benefiting you or your organs.
If you don’t harvest the qi, most of the energy collected will be wasted. Or it could happen that you feel kind of spacey walking around because you are still in meditative mode. Your focus is not there, and your mind is not there. So, your energy is not there.
When you harvest this qi, you help yourself wake up and bring yourself back from meditation and continue with your normal life.
If you forget to do the harvest, just do it when you remember. If you don’t have time to do all the harvesting movements, just do these simple ones:
1. Rub your hands together
2. Massage your face
3. Massage your ears
It is that easy!
